Ms. Vicky Peters

Bio

Vicky is a proud Wurundjeri and Yorta Yorta woman from the great Kulin Nations. Originally trained in healthcare, a career spanning over 20 years, many of those working in remote Aboriginal communities in Cape York, Far North Queensland, Vicky played a significant role in establishing the remote travelling dental service. 
Upon returning to Melbourne, Vicky completed Post Graduate Studies and graduated with a Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Careers Education & Development.
Vicky is currently the Manager of Indigenous Student Services and part of the Executive team for the newly established Moondani Toombadool Centre at Swinburne. Vicky provides high level executive support, sets the strategic direction for the centre, leads the delivery of student success programs across the university and recently formalised significant national partnerships with former Girls Academy, Clontarf Foundation and Worawa Aboriginal College.  Vicky was recently appointed to the Worawa Aboriginal College Advisory Committee and currently holds membership with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Higher Education Consortium (NATSIHEC), WATTLE Women in Leadership Network, Australia and New Zealand Students Services Association (ANZSSA) and with her team presented at the 2019 International Conference in New Zealand.
Previous positions held across the education sector, include the formerly named Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) Eastern Metropolitan Region.  Murrup Barack Institute for Indigenous Development, The University of Melbourne leading the operational roll-out of the Indigenous School Partnership Program.  The Office of Indigenous Strategy & Education at La Trobe University to develop and establish signature programs focussed on secondary school students’ tertiary experiences.
