As a member-based association, ANZSSA thrives thanks to the dedication, passion, and leadership of its people. Life Membership is ANZSSA’s highest honour — awarded to individuals who have made a sustained and outstanding contribution to both the student services sector and the association itself.

Nomination Process

Step 1: Call for Nominations
ANZSSA will call for Life Member nominations annually, and no later than 30 April. Nominations can be submitted by any current ANZSSA member.

Step 2: Submission of Nomination Form
Nominator completes a Life Membership Nomination Form, including evidence against each criterion in 250 words or less.

Step 3: Review and endorsement by ANZSSA Executive Committee
The ANZSSA Executive Committee reviews nominations using the approved rubric. The committee may seek additional information or clarification if needed.

Step 4: Announcement and Recognition
Successful nominees are announced at the AGM or national conference and recognised publicly, with their consent (e.g. ANZSSA website, ANZSSA LinkedIn page).

 

Life Membership Criteria

1. Outstanding and Sustained Contribution

The nominee has made a significant, long-term impact on student services across Australia and/or New Zealand, demonstrating leadership, innovation, or advocacy that has shaped the sector.

2. Service to ANZSSA

They have shown active and meaningful involvement in ANZSSA over many years — through governance roles, conference participation, mentoring, or other contributions that have strengthened the association.

3. Embodiment of ANZSSA Values

The individual consistently reflects ANZSSA’s core values - collaboration, respect, inclusion, sustainable impact.

Each criterion is scored out of 5, with a maximum total score of 15.

Outstanding and Sustained Contribution

Demonstrated long-term impact on student services through leadership, innovation, or advocacy. Contributions have shaped practice or policy across the sector.

 

Service to ANZSSA

Active involvement in ANZSSA over time, including committee roles, conference participation, mentoring, or other meaningful contributions to the association.

 

Embodiment of ANZSSA Values

Consistently reflects ANZSSA’s values - collaboration, respect, inclusion, and sustainable impact.
