The DOSSANZ network discussed the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence Issues Paper. The meeting featured Renee Hamilton, Director, Gender-based Violence Policy from the Australian Universities Accord Implementation Higher Education Division who discussed emerging themes from the current consultation process and invited direct input from Directors of Student Services on the proposed code and issues paper.
For the second part of the meeting, Amy Heise, Executive Director Student Experience, Massey University provided reflections on the implementation of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice which was introduced in New Zealand in 2021, which sets out what education providers must do to ensure the wellbeing and safety of their learners.
